Setting Post Title with h1 tag in Simple theme
1
New year greetings to all !!
I am using Simple blogger theme and kind of struggling to get basic H1 tag on each of the post title. Blog URL is at www.finxplain.com
My first attempt was to try via customize template theme, which apparently doesn't let me decide if the tag is H1 or H2 (though I can change font styling / size). Next step was working through theme - I see following CSS code
h3.post-title, .comments h4 {
font: $(post.title.font);
margin: .75em 0 0;
}
However, changing setting here to h1 is still not getting me the result of having h1 tags on my post title. Below is how I made change, retaining the name as is and just setting it to h1 instead of h4
h3.post-title, .comments h1 {
font: $(post.title.font);
margin: .75em 0 0;
}
Reason to change - apparently all site checker/SEO suggest to have H1 tag on each post and I was thinking of achieving this via converting post title to h1 level. Let me know, if I am mistaken in interpreting this suggestion.
Thank you for all the help in advance.

Blogger already assigns the appropriate web page markups for blog pages - based on heirachy , top to bottom. For example..
h1 - blog title
h2 - post date/widget title
h3 - post title
h4 - comments title
However, it may not suit you (and maybe others) personal preferences.
Yes h1 heading is important for web crawlers, but now they are smart enough to know which contents is good and which ones are not - and its importance.
Google search engineers also highlighted that, a web page can have more than one h1 tag on a webpage, so based on your readings at the seo tool, the information may not be correct or updated yet.
The post title tag, if you like to update and changes is at Blog1 widget inside b:include name='post' you should see some markups that looks like this..
<h3 class='post-title' ... ><data:.post.title /></h3>
Change h3 to h1. There will be more than one of these markups, so you might else well change them. Then add some styles to it to your orefernece.
