I heard this described as a German "Brokeback Mountain" - a concept hard to grasp given that it takes place in the present and that Germany, generally speaking, is a good deal less homophobic than the US. Anyhow, this motion-picture show tells the story of two police cadets who rather suddenly, inexplicably fall hard for each other. The one cadet, Kay, is close to beingness openly gay and has few qualms telling Marc, the other cadet, that he wants him. Marc resists and then caves fourth dimension and again until he finds himself in love. With a child on the manner and parents living next door, yous can feel him being smothered. The other officers have accepted Marc into the fold only only as a straight human being. (They marginalize and discriminate against Kay.) And the simply way Marc seems to get any credit from anyone in his life is by engaging in "traditional" male beliefs - except for Kay who genuinely cares for Marc and is quite unhappy without him. How Marc reconciles all of this is the conflict at the center but what a conflict it is! It does involve some of the themes in "Brokeback Mount" - feeling stuck betwixt two worlds, discomfort in i's peel, brazen homophobia - only information technology ends there. Information technology concludes on a ??? note which is all I can really say. The writing is strong and compelling and the acting is spot-on. The direction is wise - it is accurate, meaning that information technology spends just the right amount of time with each couple. It also uses images to highlight aggression and homophobic violence. It doesn't preach. It assumes the audience will have the right reaction. Of grade, there is the result of "sex scenes", an issue I only address considering people obsess over it. The gay scenes are something I would like to see more of - realistic, assumptive, emphasis on kissing and caressing, simply swish. Queer men and most direct women would probably approve and secure straight men would probably but shrug (and that makes for well over 60% of the viewing audition - just a annotation to Hollywood). I rather liked this moving-picture show - it catches the imagination and presents a very real dilemma that really does take place.

This moving picture (in German with English subtitles) actually has very lilliputian in common with "Brokeback Mount" despite the gushing advertizement for it. Information technology's the story of a (relatively) young man who all of a sudden finds himself free falling into this state of bewilderment and wonderment and confusion - all at once - equally everything in his life turns upside downwards and inside out. The acting is first-class and the script is aces. It's a motion picture you probably won't ever see fabricated in America; just the Europeans (in general) seem a lot less uptight about sexual activity, nudity and homosexuality/pansexuality. As a result, it's frank and in your face; a big dose of reality mixed with the surreal, as the protagonist seems to lose all the control he one time idea he had over his life and free falls into the unknown.

That is this movie in a nutshell. But omigosh what a first-class nutshell it is.
This is regular life brought to you by ii keen actors with a palpable connection of which they take total reward. They fully inhabit these two people who find themselves in the center of a love maelstrom. And, of grade, it doesn't merely impact them, but also family and their professional lives.
Being honest with one's self is sometimes the virtually difficult thing, especially when there's fear in being honest with those who dear you and accept your dearest right back. This is Marc and his life, and now with his new piece of work partner, Kay.
Sparks wing. It turns into a hurricane. They both try to concord on.
I love this film. I've watched it several times since it'southward release and yet dearest it. For as much story equally we go here, there is potential for a lot more than. Lucky for us, the Indigogo campaign for a sequel continues to proceeds funds and all of those involved in this film are on board with that follow up. I cannot wait. This is what gorgeous contained movie looks similar.

The blu-ray has a couple of problems, but they are serious.
One is there should be a director'due south cut, the deleted scenes should be included in a full version of the picture show. Currently the deleted scenes have been loaded on-line, sometimes with the subtitles.
Also at that place should exist a fuller version of the initial love scene (if you can call it that) betw the two male leads, if only because many people confuse the time lapse cutting (so we viewers don't really know how long the interaction is betw the men) into a real fourth dimension representation.
In that location is another issue, merely I did find an English language-language translation on-line, that is the commentary offered up past the two male leads plus the director and it is a High german only runway, no English subtitles bachelor. That seems inefficient for a blu-ray product.
The movie succeeds because of the 3 leads and their intense delivery, but it falls short in some areas due the then inexperience of the director. Frankly, if there is a sequel, I'm hoping the director and screenwriter are much improved or the project would be better left in the hands of the leads, as they saved this original moving-picture show.
Otherwise for a blu-ray you might have to adjust your screen as the picture was likewise dark until I made some screen adjustments and suddenly I was able to see faces that were otherwise obscure.

Gratuitous Fall'due south lead characters are acted and directed superbly. Their courtship was by far the all-time given the interesting dynamic of 1 being directly with a babe on the manner and his life with the mother all unfolding, and the other grapheme who knows exactly who he is and exactly what he wants out of life & love. In that location unfolding romance between them and the one's discovery of new feelings & attractions running alongside his new wife & infant was well washed and erotically charged without cliches! The Lovemaking scenes were past far the nearly realistically & naturally uninhibited and remarkably Cute! No spoilers across this. I truly treasure this movie. I've seen 90% of all gay films globally out at that place. 10% and some of the 90% I've seen are garbage! This one and "Shelter" are my top 2

This movie was ane of the best I've e'er seen. The story, the interim, unbelievably well-done! The intensity of the actors, the credibility of the disharmonize of trying to love one's wife and new-born and the struggle to take who one is! The realization in the other of being so much in dearest with some other male and feeling the ache of the other who does not know how to fully reciprocate! Ah the struggle to have who one is and whom 1 loves!

*possible spoilers* I was amused to observe that this movie is in German and discovered that only when I hit the Play button. I take no outcome with subtitles and then that didn't touch my opinion of this film at all. Since 5 is a rare review from me, I wasn't able to give it my loftier of 4 because I remember the picture wandered a lot and it wasn't particularly clear what was going on in the MC'south head. On the other hand, the ambiguity of his sexuality and his feelings were also driving the plot, so perhaps that was intentional. Information technology definitely holds your attending, though, as you struggle to see where the story is taking you. In the finish, I retrieve the MC came out a stronger man, but not sure the anguish was completely necessary.
